Established in 2010, Mukul provides educational and social welfare services to poor and distressed families especially those from those of the Santal tribe. The school building is being replaced with a more permanent structure but is included here to see the humble origins of Mukul.
This is one of the classrooms. Fairly modest but very important.
Many thanks to Amit, on the left, for his generous welcome to Mukul. Here we are pictured with Professor Rajat Kishore, and Rupali Saha. Professor Kishore Dey is Vice-Chancellor of the University of Gour Banga. Rupali is a good friend (who worked for years and decades for NGOs).
After the visit, it was nice to go to Pakuahut for singara (a kind of samosa). Here with Amit (in red) and Professor Rajat Kishore Dey, enjoying our late lunch.
The NGO is set in beautiful countryside but one should not overlook the economic and educational needs of those that live in the area, especially those from the Santal people.
