Shri Swaminarayan Temple, Dholera

The Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Dholera is beautiful and special as it is one of six temples built by Lord Swaminarayan.

At the time of puja it was possible to view the mandir’s deities. On the left is Harikrushna Maharaj that is Lord Swaminarayan himself. In the middle is Madanmohanji Maharaj that is known as Krishna. On the right is Radhikaji who is Lord Krishna’s chief consort.

Although darshan, to appear before the auspicious sight of a deity, is fundamental and profoundly spiritual, it’s worth glancing up as so many temples have beautiful and ornately decorated ceilings.

It was our privilage to meet one of the mandir’s swamijis and an honour to be garlanded. Thank you for welcoming us to your mandir!

As if visiting the temple, meeting the monk and watching the evening aarti wasn’t enough, we met our good friend Kalpesh from London. It’s either a small world, which it is, or Lord Swaminarayan gifted us a nice surprise! Kalpesh is an experienced dance teacher, choreographer, performer and entertainer.
