Agra and Lucknow

Me at the Taj Mahal, finally

The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum (a stately building housing a burial) on the river Yamuna at Agra. The mausoleum was commissioned by Shah Jahan in 1631to house the tomb of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Shah Jahan died in 1658 and is also buried there. The Taj Mahal is India’s most popular tourist destination that recieved over 4 million visitors between April 2022 and February 2023. After twelve trips to India, it was about time I joined the millions.

It was a privilage to join the Tirth Yatra with such wonderful participants
Steve and Kalyan on the banks of the goddess Yamuna

Behind the Taj Mahal is the river Yamuna that is the second-largest tributary river of the Ganges. The Yamuna is highly venerated in Hinduism and worshipped as a goddess. I am pictured with Kalyan who was great to travel with on the Tirth Yatra. Thank you, Kalyan.

The deities are Radha Krishna

The Shri Radha Rani Temple in Barsana, Mathura District of Uttar Pradesh was completed in 1675. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Radha and the main deities are Radha Krishna that are worshiped together in the form of Shri Laadli Lal, which means the beloved daughter and son of the town.
